US Airways Upgrade Awards Change
(Posted: Sep 18, 2007)
Effective Oct. 3, 2007, all one-way upgrades within the contiguous U.S., Canada and Alaska will require 15,000 miles (up from 10,000 miles) when traveling on less than full-fare.
All one-way upgrade awards between the contiguous U.S., Canada or Alaska and the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico or Hawaii will require 17,500 miles (up from 15,000 miles).
The mileage requirement for upgrade awards between the contiguous U.S., Canada, Caribbean, Central America, Hawaii, Alaska or Mexico and Europe will remain the same at 30,000 miles one-way. However, effective Oct. 3, 2007, it will no longer be necessary to purchase a Y/B/M/H/Q class ticket in order to qualify for a transatlantic mileage upgrade. Qualifying transatlantic tickets will include roundtrip tickets with a gross value equal or greater than $1,200, and one-way tickets with a gross value equal or greater than $600. The gross value of a ticket is calculated as the base fare plus taxes, facility surcharges and fees levied by US Airways.

You missed the major bullet for elite members regarding this announcement: in "repackaging" this, US has eliminated the long-standing mileage discount for any elite member. Upgrades for elites have always been 10,000 miles one way.
Neat little non-announcement heh?
